All you've got to do is get a piece of string, a strip of paper, or dental floss and wrap it around the base of your finger, ensuring it is loose enough to comfortably slide past your knuckle.

Then, take a pen or pencil and mark the point on the string/paper strip/dental floss where the end meets around your finger. Once you've made a small mark, remove the material from your finger and measure the length up to the marked point with a millimetre ruler.
