What’s the difference between wedding rings and engagement rings?

Only one half of the couple gets an engagement ring. But both can have one if they choose. The wedding bands are exchanged during the vows and both members of the partnership will get one. It symbolises the eternal love of the marriage.

Wedding rings also differ in style usually. Wedding bands are often much simpler. We have simple wedding rings but we do also have more decadent styles with inlaid stones and the like for those who want a more luxurious piece.

Can I customise my wedding ring design?

Custom wedding rings are pretty common. We have found many people like to personalise their wedding rings with dates, initials, and more. This can add something unique and can be added to the inner side of the band too.

We love customising wedding rings and offer a range of personalisation options, including adding simple initials, names, dates, place names, and more. We can't offer engravings on every wedding band, but we have lots of options for you to choose from.

What metals are most durable for wedding rings?

We use precious metal of high quality for our wedding bands, and all are meticulously crafted. All the metals that we use are incredibly durable. Platinum is often considered a very durable metal, but the silver we use is also very durable. Gold is also a great choice for wedding rings, though white gold is slightly softer.

For those looking for white gold wedding rings and other silver styles, we use sterling silver. This is a durable metal and is great for people whose personal style usually includes silver jewellery. We don't yet stock platinum wedding rings in NZ.

For those yellow gold wearers, we also use solid gold and gold vermeil in our wedding bands. And for anyone looking for something softer or feminine, we have rose gold options. Rose gold has added copper. This makes it a more pink metal.

Can I have a personalised message engraved on my wedding ring?

Yes, you definitely can with us. We are limited in the engravings we can offer due to the wedding band sizes we have. This means you may be limited to initials or special dates. We usually have this information listed on our product pages, but if you're in any doubt then please do reach out.

If we cannot accommodate your request, there are other options. Consider other engravable jewellery, like engraved bracelets or perhaps and engraved pillar necklace. There are lots of options for wedding jewellery.

What styles of wedding rings are popular for men?

Wedding rings for men include timeless styles like plain bands. These are common because they're less ostentatious than other styles. However, there's lots of popular styles that we offer that aren't plain but are simple and elegant. They add a touch of something different to wedding bands without being very big.

We have found molten styles, like this one, are popular with men who want something unique but understated. Additionally, other textured styles, like this one can add something interesting to your every day wear when it comes to a wedding ring.

How do I choose the right width for a wedding ring?

The right width depends on the style you want. If you are the wearer of the engagement ring, you might also want to consider how the wedding ring would stack against it. This means you could try on other styles of differing widths or measure your rings to see which you like best.

Does Camile and Stone NZ provide matching wedding rings?

Yes, we can offer matching wedding rings. Our wedding bands come in many styles and offer both men's and women's. You might find that you and your partner want to have the same style but in different metals, and we can usually achieve this for you too.

Remember that just because something is listed as being a men's or women's style, doesn't mean it cannot be worn by another gender. This means you can also choose the exact same ring.

Are there hypoallergenic wedding ring options?

Yes, there are.

Hypoallergenic metals are those that are unlikely to cause allergies in people with metal allergies. We use silver which is often considered a hypoallergenic metal, but there are people with silver metal allergies too who cannot wear this metal.

Gold is not a good choice though if you’ve had an allergic reaction to metal before, especially if it was to gold. Remember that sometimes gold looks silver in white gold.

How should I care for my wedding ring over time?

First you need to remove it any situation it can get harmed like sleeping or working out. Also avoid spending too long in water with it on, like a bath or swimming pool.

Clean your wedding ring regularly. You can do it yourself with soapy water and a brush but you can aslo get professional help. A jeweler will be able to give you best advice on keeping your wedding ring shiny over time.

Vintage wedding rings in NZ might need more delicate care due to older materials used. If you're buying a vintage piece, we recommend speaking to a jewler about the best care going forward.
